Understanding GDSN

GDSN is a standards-based network for supply chain and logistics data that ensures a higher level of data accuracy by enforcing validation of the data synchronized.  GS1 GDSN™ is a network of interoperable data pools and the GS1 Global Registry. It enables data synchronization and helps to optimize supply chain information between trading partners.

Data pools are the resulting repositories of this information. These data pools are the single points of entry into the GDSN for retailers and suppliers.  Suppliers use source data pools to store their product information and retailers use recipient data pools to receive that information.  Supplier product information is uniquely identified by a combination of the product Golbal Trade Identification Number (GTIN), the Global Location Number (GLN) of the product supplier, and the target market. Each product is also assigned a classification code, which conveys several common product attributes, based on Global Product Classification (GPC) schema.

GDSN item information maintained by Big Hammer and subscribed to by retailers and distributors will be sent in accordance to our agreement with the GS1. This only includes GDSN item information and does not include any other value-added services provided by Big Hammer.
